"Guest Post"

When you're part of a family my size you're bound to share you interests and talents with others. In my family, when it comes to artistic talent, we have two sketch artists, two musicians, and one photographer . . . . or do we? Take a look at these lovely pictures that my 12 year old sister captured the other day when I was babysitting this little cutie.

She totally surprised us with this pose when we pulled out the camera.  Darling! I know. :)

Didn't my sister do a great job!  Feel free (actually, please do!) leave a comment and tell her so.

Friday Poem

It Couldn’t Be Done

Somebody said that it couldn’t be done
      But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
      Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
      On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
      That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

Somebody scoffed: “Oh, you’ll never do that;
      At least no one ever has done it;”
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat
      And the first thing we knew he’d begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
      Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
      That couldn’t be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
      There are thousands to prophesy failure,
There are thousands to point out to you one by one,
      The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,
      Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start in to sing as you tackle the thing
      That “cannot be done,” and you’ll do it.

Before I sigh off here, I just want to say that I think sometimes the things that "cannot be done" aren't what we'd expect. We might think we'll never get that job, or education, or relationship that we want and we're tempted to see that as the thing that "cannot be done" but I wonder if perhaps the bigger thing that "cannot be done" is to learn to live joyfully without the thing we want.  That's not to discourage us from chasing our dreams but a reminder to live joyfully if God tells us it's not the time to have them fulfilled. . . with that in mind let's read the poem again.

That's just my little comment on this poem that is so inspiring. :)

Happy Friday, y'all!

Check this out!

As I've mentioned previously, I volunteer at our local crises pregnancy center (it's a wonderful place to work:).  Recently we created a video tour of our office featuring some of my photography!  If you want to check it out click on the following link and hit the download button.

P.S. I did not do all of the photography featured in this video.  If you are wondering which shots in particular I took contact me for a complete list!
